When We Are Closed
Call the NHS on 111 if you need medical help fast, but it is not an emergency. The new NHS 111 service will help you access urgent local health services when you need them out of hours.
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the service is available for people who aren't sure if they need to go to A&E, don't have a GP to call or generally need reassurance and advice.
A team of fully trained advisers and experienced nurses will assess your condition and direct you to the local service that can help you best, when you need it.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and/or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
NHS Drop-in Centre
There is a NHS drop-in centre King Street Walk-in Centre, Wakefield. Telephone Number, 01924 882350. There is a GP on site as well as a physiotherapist and experienced nurses. No appointment is necessary and it is open from 10:00 to 22:00.
The drop in centre can treat minor illnesses and injuries, headaches, colds and flu, skin complaints and muscle and joint injuries.
